Maintenance
Retuning by Ear
Over time, every handpan drifts. We bring yours back to itself, by hand, with the patience the steel was built with.

When to Retune
Signs your handpan is asking for care
Handpans are alive. Travel, climate and time all leave their mark. These are the most common signs it's time to send yours to us.
Notes feel sharp or flat
Your tones drift from the pitch you remember, or the instrument no longer plays in tune with itself or other handpans.
Buzzes, ghost notes, double tones
A note that used to sing now rattles, splits, or wakes a neighbour it shouldn't. Usually a tuning shift, sometimes a structural one.
After a knock or fall
If your handpan has been dropped, struck, or shipped roughly, even minor impact can pull it off pitch. Catch it early, fix it cleanly.
How It Works
Every retuning starts with a video. The amount of work depends entirely on your instrument, so we want to see and hear it before we quote.
Send a Video
Record a short video playing each note, top to bottom. Email it to us with your handpan model and a note about what you're hearing.
We Review & Quote
We watch, listen, and reply with an honest scope: what's drifted, what it needs, and how much work is involved.
Ship to the Workshop
Once you accept the quote, you ship the handpan to our Romanian workshop. Transport is at your cost, both ways.
Retune & Return
We retune by ear, test it across temperatures, then ship it back to you carefully packed and ready to play.
Investment
Pricing
Retuning is priced by the work your specific instrument needs. We can't give a fixed number until we've seen the video.
Minimum
€200
Light retuning of a healthy instrument. Heavier work is quoted after we review your video.
Transport
Customer pays
Round-trip shipping is at your cost. We'll recommend a carrier and packing approach.
Often Paired With
Engraving on tone fields
If you'd like engraving on the tone fields themselves, retuning is required afterwards. We do both in the same workshop visit.
