Personalization
Custom Engraving
Make your handpan truly yours with hand-engraved designs.

Where It Goes
Two places, two outcomes
Engraving on a finished handpan can live in one of two places. Each has different implications for your instrument's tuning, so it's worth understanding the trade-off.
Interstitial Area
Engraving on the interstitial part — the space between tone fields — does not damage your handpan in any way and does not change its tuning.
- ·Fully safe on a finished instrument
- ·Keeps your current tuning intact
Tone Fields
Engraving directly on the tone fields creates the most striking visual effect, but the engraving process disturbs the tuning, so a full retuning afterwards is required.
- ·Most dramatic visual result
- ·Comes with a required retuning.
About the Color
Engraving on a finished instrument is white
A finished handpan can no longer be annealed. That means the color of the engraving is fixed — it will be "white" steel, the natural tone of the metal beneath the patina, and cannot be changed.
If you'd like a colored engraving (deep blue, bronze, blackened tones), we'll need to engrave during the build, before final firing. Ask us about this when you order a new handpan.
